COVID-19 forced sudden changes in the educational world. Almost overnight, teachers were required to alter their instructional methods and teaching styles to accommodate remote learning. And while the emergency measures were necessary, distance learning came with a new set of challenges. As government leaders and school district officials rollout plans for the next school year, blended learning is in the spotlight. Thankfully, the US Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
Funding the Future of Education
When the CARES Act was signed into law in March 2020, Congress designated approximately $30.75 billion of the bill’s $2 trillion economic relief package as the Education Stabilization Fund. Of that amount, $3 billion was directed to the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund (GEERF). These funds are specifically earmarked to help schools purchase and implement solutions that will bridge the gap of distance learning between teachers and students.
Since 2012, Clear Touch has been creating interactive educational technology designed to enhance student-teacher engagement in physical classrooms and remote learning environments. As a result, we have created multiple edtech solutions that qualify for the Educational Technology and Professional Development categories of the CARES Act fund usage guidelines.
When combined with a WC110 webcam and integrated software applications such as Snowflake, Command, and Collage, Clear Touch interactive panels or current displays and monitors create seamless learning experiences both in and out of the classroom. Useful during the pandemic and beyond, Clear Touch products provide long-term value and an excellent return on investment.
WC110 combines all the essential elements of digital conferencing, including full HD webcam and integrated audio with built-in noise reduction. They can also pair it with the all-new Clear Touch 7000XE interactive panel and create a classroom “studio” that allows them to broadcast real-time interactive lessons in ultra-HD clarity and crystal-clear sound.
In light of the current challenges, public health is at the center of almost every educational conversation. CARES Act funds can be used to support needs such as cleaning, sanitation, materials, and supplies to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Clear Digital Gel™, the touchless sanitizer station with LED digital display, provides essential protection and visual health reminders at the same time. With digital sanitizer level notifications and remote content management via the Clear Digital Sho or third-party Android APK player software, Gel provides maximum convenience while minimizing the need for manual maintenance.
The Clear Digital Evo and Vue provide additional ways to help with health and safety. Utilize the Evo Roll, mobile digital signage display, or Vue, LED video wall, to share important messaging and notifications on safety. These dynamic displays offer more impact than static signs that blend into the background.
In addition to physical equipment provisions, the ESSER clause of the CARES Act allows for teacher training in their new blended learning work environment. Clear Touch offers a variety of online, on-demand, and in-person training resources designed to help teachers make a successful transition to virtual education.
From live panel demonstrations and virtual software tutorials to Clear Touch Academy and professional development workshops, our digital resources equip teachers to deliver instruction effectively and monitor student progress efficiently. For educators who want to go deeper, we also offer 3-day Certified Trainer classes that show participants how to tailor Clear Touch technology to their state standards and unique curriculum requirements.
